Originally Karen Jones trained as a Horse Riding instructor and qualified as a B.H.S.A. I. in 1977. Teaching has always remained in my blood and teaching people to ride was far more difficult thanteaching people to dance. You have to contend with an animal that may or may not follow the instruction of the rider so there was always a possibility of an element of surprise.
Hipsinc classes are almost always women-only. This is important as it helps many women feel more comfortable and enables them to move without embarrasment. We also have Muslim women in many of ourclasses and they would not be able to attend if the classes were mixed. However, we do occasionally have men in class, especially in our theatrical dance classes, so do check first if it is important to you to be in a women only environment.
I have watched the students evolve over the years with great interest and am always very moved by the wonderful family ethos that seems to be fostered throughout the school.' Pupils come to us whowant to enjoy dance as a hobby or are keen to enter the profession in years to come. Whatever their ambition every pupil is treated equally and given the same high quality training to prepare them for the future. What makes us and our students so successful is the care and attention of our teaching.
