Hastings School

Contemporary dance is an art form using movement to express and communicate feelings and ideas.

Hastings Contemporary Dance school began in 1978 at The Grove School, St Leonards-on-Sea. It's creator, Laban trained teacher, dancer and choreographer Sue Marshall started with an adult education evening class. Between 1978 and 1983 it continued at a variety of venues such as The Old Hastings Club in High Street, Hastings, Priory Road School for Boys and St Mary Star of the Sea Church Hall. In 1983 Hastings School of Contemporary Dance moved to its permanent home at St Clements Church House, Croft Road in Hastings Old Town.

The school provides equal opportunities and welcomes anyone with an interest in movement, music and dance, whatever their age, gender or ability. Everyone has the opportunity to express themselves within their own range and to experiment with creative choreography.
