Contemporary dance is an art form using movement to express and communicate feelings and ideas. Hastings Contemporary Dance school began in 1978 at The Grove School, St Leonards-on-Sea. It's creator,Laban trained teacher, dancer and choreographer Sue Marshall started with an adult education evening class. Between 1978 and 1983 it continued at a variety of venues such as The Old Hastings Club in High Street, Hastings, Priory Road School for Boys and St Mary Star of the Sea Church Hall.

Learn Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Street Dance and Musical Theatre in a fun atmosphere with the emphasis on learning in a non-competitive environment. The Dance Studio aims to provide classes for all,from Beginners to Advanced, whether it be once-a-week for fun or dedicated dancers looking into a career in Dance. The Dance Studio was formed in 1985 by its Principal, Marianne Faulkner and has now grown to over 350 pupils.

Principal since she opened the school in 1982. Trained locally at her mother's school in Hastings, The DeHaviland Dance and Drama Studio. In recent years has furthered her training at the The Centreunder Karen King and recently Deborah Capon College and has been an ISTD Modern and Tap examiner for eight years examining all over the UK and abroad. The school under her leadership has gained many successes in festivals and competitions and has performed in London West End theatres.

Pip has worked with JDSports, NIKE & TRIATHLETE magazine as a fitness and dance model. She has been dancing for twenty-three years and working in the fitness industry for the past three. Along withthis, she teaches Barre, Ballet fitness, Pilates, Supple Strength and Zumba. Pip completed her professional dance programme at Legat Ballet in 2003 and later on gained a degree in Display Design, University of The Arts - London.
