The Elwick Academy of Dance School was founded in 1949 by Miss Freda Compton, MBE. It all started predominantly as a dance school for children wanting to learn dancing skills as a hobby, but soon grew, and over the years modernised itself into a great training ground for children and young adults wanting to pursue a career in performing arts. Its success has been immense and so numerous pupils have since left and gone onto amazing professional performing jobs both nationally and internationally.

Rachel Coad School of Dance has been established since the year 2000 and is based in Darlington. Students are accepted from the age of 2 years old (toilet trained) to adult. Classes are catered for people with all abilities. Students follow The British Theatre Dance Association syllabus and have the option of taking exams.
